Justice Quentin Loh (moderator)

Judge, Supreme Court of Singapore

Justice Quentin Loh was appointed as Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court in 2009 and later, as Judge in 2010.

Prior to that, he was Managing Partner of Cooma, Lau & Loh, a firm he co-founded in 1978. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 1999. In 2001, he moved to Rajah & Tann as an Executive Committee member before becoming Deputy Managing Partner in 2003.

Until his appointment as a Judicial Commissioner, he was also Director of Maxwell Chambers, a dispute resolution complex located in Singapore.

Justice Chua Lee Ming

Judge, Supreme Court of Singapore

Justice Chua began his legal career in 1984. He held various positions such as serving as Deputy Registrar and Magistrate of the Subordinate Courts (renamed as the State Courts in 2014). He also served the Supreme Court Registry. He then became State Counsel and Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Attorney-General’s Chambers in 1989. In 1991, he was appointed as Partner in Lee & Lee. Then in 1998, he joined the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation Pte Ltd (renamed as GIC Pte Ltd in 2013), where he later became the General Counsel. He was a founding member of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association and served on various committees of the Law Society of Singapore and Singapore Academy of Law.

Justice Sir Henry Bernard Eder

International Judge, Supreme Court of Singapore

Justice Eder was formerly a Judge of the High Court of England and Wales, and was assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division and the Commercial Court from 2011 to 2015. Prior to his appointment to the Bench in the United Kingdom, he was a Barrister in Essex Court Chambers of London from 1975 to 2010, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1990. From 1999-2003, he was a Visiting Professor at University College London.

He is widely regarded as an expert in the areas of commercial disputes, civil claims and international arbitration involving all aspects of commercial law including banking, shipping, of goods, commodities, oil/gas and insurance. He was previously the Senior Editor of Scrutton on Charterparties and Bills of Lading. He also acts as an arbitrator/mediator.

Mr. Cavinder Bull, S.C.

Chief Executive Officer, Drew & Napier LLC

Cavinder is actively engaged in trial and appellate advocacy at all levels of the Singapore courts for the past 25 years. He is experienced in handling a wide range of complex litigation and international arbitration matters, including corporate disputes, fraud, insolvency, private equity disputes, banking, telecommunications, and antitrust.

Chambers Asia-Pacific, a prestigious legal ranking publication, described him as “a pre-eminent dispute resolution practitioner with a long and successful track record” and “a highly regarded advocate with a strong track record representing investors and sovereign states in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations”.

Cavinder was on the committee that helped to draft the first set of Rules of the SICC. He is CEO of Drew & Napier, Vice-President of the Court of Arbitration of Singapore International Arbitration Centre, a member of the World Bank Sanctions Board, a Governing Board member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and a member of the Advisory Board of the AFSA International Arbitration Rules Drafting Committee. He is also Vice-President of Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group, Co-Chairman of the Singapore Stock Exchange’s Disciplinary Committee and a member of the Securities Industries Council.

Cavinder graduated from Oxford University with First Class Honours in law and has an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. He is called to the Bar in Singapore, New York, and England. He was appointed Senior Counsel by the Chief Justice of Singapore in 2008, one of a handful to be appointed before the age of 40.

Ms. Georgia Dawson

Asia Regional Managing Partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer

Georgia’s work covers internal and regulatory investigations, complex multi-jurisdictional litigation and compliance advice.

She has been recognised as a leading lawyer by numerous legal publications, including Chambers and IFLR1000. She is also profiled in the top 100 lawyers in GIR’s Women in Investigations Special 2015 and was the winner of the Best in Dispute Resolution award at the IFLR Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2013. Georgia has also been recognized for her commitment to diversity having been a driving force behind the firm’s endorsement of the UN Standards of Business Conduct for LGBT+ people, and her efforts to implement diversity policies and best practices within the firm. She was recently recognised for the second consecutive year as an OUTstanding LGBT & Ally Executive and was named Stonewall’s Global Senior Champion in 2019.

Georgia is admitted to practice in Hong Kong, England & Wales and New South Wales, and she is a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore.

She holds a first-class degree in law from the University of Sydney and a masters in international relations from Cambridge University, where she studied as a Chevening scholar.

Mr. Cameron Ford

Partner, Squire Patton Boggs

Cameron is a partner with Squire Patton Boggs Singapore practising in international dispute resolution. Until August 2019 he was Senior Counsel with Rio Tinto in Singapore practising in disputes and commercial law. As well as the usual LLB and LLM, he has a Graduate Certificate in International Arbitration, a Master of Arts in Contemporary China, and is a PhD candidate at Monash University on security for costs in international arbitration.

Cameron spent most of his career in private practice in law firms and at the independent Bar in Australia practicing in commercial dispute resolution before going in-house in 2008 with National Australia Bank and then Downer Group. He has worked as in-house counsel in Singapore since 2009 with 6 months Mongolia.

Cameron is a Fellow of the major arbitral institutes and is on the panels of the SIAC, SIArb, AIAC, HKIAC and the Beijing Arbitration Commission. He is Chair of the SIAC Users Council Committee for Australia and New Zealand, a Member of the SIAC Users Council Executive Committee, a member of the Executive Committee of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association and Chair of its Energy, Commodities and Shipping Chapter, Advisor to the Publications Committee of the Singapore Law Society, and is a mediator and security of payment adjudicator.
